presents

No sign of any indie-game presents yet, but I have wound up with a copy of Rune Factory for the DS.

... and it's played with BUTTONS! Who writes DS games to use buttons? That's what the stylus is for! Seriously, I don't think any of the games I own have relied on buttons...

edit: Lack of touchscreen really hampers this for me because fiddling around with movement trying to get the right square of land selected is oddly annoying. WHY WHY WHY didn't they design this game to use the stylus? So far I've only looked at the beginning and wandered around picking things up, feeling useless.

There's an option you can turn on that pops up a square in front of you. This helps when you're sowing seeds, fighting, giving stuff and all that.

That's exactly what I thought when I started playing RF, just WHY would any programmer who programs games for the DS not implent LOTS of use for the Stylus!? I noticed there are quite a few games that rely on the cross controls.. that Izuna Ninja RPG thingy.. and some others I can't seem to remember.. :>

I just hope Harvest Moon DS Cute will have better controls.. *_*

I like having a choice of using the stylus or not. RF is a fine game, and the stylus comes in handy for farming & fighting, but is not essential.
